I seriously thought he was trying to sandbag in order to make diving catches (and he did make a nice one with Rasmus). But you get a feel for how it works after just a few touches. And slight tweaks to the fielder speed will move the OF more before the CPU lets go. It doesn't take that long to get a feel for the OF, and it works really well. Well, other than his stuttering around in the OF crap.
Other than that, his gameplay videos made it look pretty good. that makes stuff like that a dealbreaker. But if someone is coing from The Show, they will want to soak in all of the little stuff (that I don't think means squat). 2K has some terrible animations like that. But if that animation of Zambrano is a big deal, then this game is probably going to drive you nuts. Especially if they have not nailed down AI use of their bullpen like they claim. To be fair, DB, I doubt this game is going to do a thing for you. that's all fine, but it's hard to take him serious when he says it is more stable and solid, but also more boring this year. He had no rhyme or reason to location or pitch type. He seemed to swing or take a pitch at random. I mean, he clicked on them, and it asked, but he hit the wrong button. But I also saw him fumble around and fail to sit both relievers down that he had warming up at the end of an inning. So he says that the game left his PH in to pitch, even after switching. The basic mechanics have been the sam for years, but he played several games like he had no idea how it works. I watched his gameplay videos, and I don't know how sport game blogger can be so bad at a playing this game. I'm taling his impressions with a gigantic gran of salt. But it has still just been a fantastic game to sit down and play, detractors be damned.ĭbdynsty25 wrote:First impressions are good. VC had a rough go of it when they took over for Kush, and they have let some serious bugs make it to release each year. But as someone that lamented the move to 3D that ruined so many sports games for years while they tried re-balance gameplay, I appreciate the emphasis on mechanics. It's not that pretty to look at, especially when you know the other game is out there. And fielding has progressed really well from 2K10. It's the first game in which I fel like I have strong control over all of my baserunners. I absolutely love the pitcher/batter duels, as well as how intuitive all of the controls are. I ended up spending far less time with NCAA 12 and NHL 12, and MLB 2K11 was my sports game of choice for the year.

I played 2K11 into February, only stopping with release of the 2K12 demo and impending release of the full game. And since for the second year in a row I have long since stopped playing the football games and never did get a basketball game, this is the only sports game in town besides hockey. But I really like the batter - pitcher interface and I like the fielding in this game and I also see some promising improvements in the demo.
